Purpose and Benefits of the Training
The purpose of our training is to fully prepare you for life as a Test & Tag professional. From the beginning, we focus on giving you the skills needed to carry out testing and tagging in line with Australian Standards while also building your confidence to identify potential electrical faults before they become a problem. You will learn how to explain issues clearly to customers and electricians, gain the ability to test with accuracy, and understand the business systems that will help you build a strong franchise. Just as importantly, you will finish training with the reassurance that you have a network of support behind you throughout your journey.
The course begins with three days dedicated to introducing you to the Jim’s Group. This part of the training gives you the chance to hear directly from Jim, learn about the values of the brand and see how our systems, including the national call centre, are designed to support every franchisee.
You will then move into seven days of training. The first few days cover the core technical skills, followed by several days of applied training that allows you to put your learning into practice in real-world situations. Throughout this stage you will study Australian Standards in depth to ensure you understand the compliance requirements that are essential to the industry. The program is designed to build your knowledge step by step so you become confident in your ability to test equipment and present results to clients in a professional way.
On the final day you will complete your assessment. This is your opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and skills, and once completed you will receive a nationally recognised certificate. At this point you will be ready to enter the field with the ability to deliver safe and reliable Test & Tag services.

Our training is led by some of the most skilled professionals in the industry. One of these is Paul Kelly, who has been part of Jim’s Test & Tag for more than thirteen years. Paul brings a wealth of technical knowledge along with extensive hands-on experience. He understands the realities of running a Test & Tag business and is passionate about passing on his expertise to new trainees. With guidance from Paul and our other trainers, you will learn not only how to test and tag equipment correctly but also how to deliver service that sets Jim’s apart.
