Why tag electrical equipment?

Testing & Tagging

You’ve probably figured out by now that the tagging of electrical equipment is our area of expertise. In conjunction with the safety standards provided by the Australian government and Standards Australia, we have developed our services to best serve Australian businesses. If you’re wondering about the significance of electrical testing tags and why we use them, then check out the rest of our blog. Make sure you get in touch with us if you have any questions. Your safety is nothing to mess around with Australian Standards.

According to the AS/NZS 3760:2010 standard for the in-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment, testing and tagging is a requirement in every workplace. Appliance test tags need to be attached to each device as a part of the inspection service. If this does not occur, you have not met your statutory requirements as an organisation.

All of our Jim’s Test & Tag technicians supply their own tags in accordance with current national safety standards. You can rest assured that our team members will complete the tagging of electrical equipment on your property with precision and care.

Tracking your Requirements

Each appliance will have a different test interval. This will change based on the type of appliances you have and the nature of your working environment. Our technicians attach electrical test and tag labels that correspond with a logbook of results each client receives after an inspection. The tags (and logbook) will include a time frame for re-testing. This helps both the technician and client keep track of when which item was last tested and when the next date for testing is approaching.

As an extra measure, at Jim’s Test & Tag we have a free reminder service for all clients. If you opt into this service, we will send you out a notification when your next test is approaching. This will help to ensure that you and your employees aren’t exposed to any faulty equipment.

Identification of Technician

When we want to apply a label to your device, we use a test and tag machine to print a brand new label with all the required information. This includes the Jim’s Test & Tag logo and the name of the technician who completed your work. We do this for a couple of reasons –

  • you will be able to remember the name of your last technician and book someone that you already know and trust to visit your property in the future
  • you can contact Jim’s Test & Tag if you have any issues with the tests completed

When it comes to the tagging of electrical equipment, not all providers work according to Australian standards. If you’ve had trouble with a different company in the past, the identification tag on your device is a great way to know who not to choose in the future.

At Jim’s Test & Tag, you can rest assured that our technicians are highly trained and focused on the job at hand. We have seen first hand benefits of our work and we are very passionate about electrical safety in our local communities.
